The South West runs on small independent businesses to a degree that few other regions match. Trades, holiday lets, hospitality, marine services and makers dominate, and a great many of them are one or two people with a van and a reputation built entirely on word of mouth.
That word of mouth is the thing most South West websites are getting wrong. A recommendation gets passed on, the person searches the name, and what they find has to confirm the impression they were just given. A site that looks abandoned undoes the referral it was meant to close.
Seasonality matters here more than almost anywhere. A holiday-let maintenance firm sells storm preparation in September and changeover cover in July. A site that says the same thing all year is only ever half relevant, which is why we build seasonal content into South West projects rather than bolting it on later.
