Frequently asked questions
The questions people ask before getting a website from me, answered straight. Anything else, just ask.
Common questions
- How much does a website cost?
- £249.99 to build, then £49.99 a month for a sole trader, more for a bigger business. Hosting, changes, updates and support are all in the monthly, and you can stop at the end of any month.
- What is included?
- Every site includes: responsive mobile, tablet and desktop design; service pages and area pages written around what your customers search for; navigation and footer; enquiry form that sends to your email, tested before launch; tap-to-call phone number and whatsapp button on every page; social-media links; google maps embed where appropriate; page titles, meta descriptions and structured data, and more. The full list is on the pricing page.
- What is not included?
- Online shops and payment taking, which sit in the Bigger Website plan and are scoped in writing. Booking systems, customer logins and anything with an account behind it, which are also scoped in writing. Photography and logo design, though we will happily work with what you have. Paid third-party subscriptions, such as a booking tool or an email provider, which you pay directly.
- Is there a minimum term?
- No minimum term and no hoops to jump through. Send one message and your plan stops at the end of that month: no forms to hunt for, no notice period, no one trying to talk you out of it.
- Who owns the domain?
- Two domains are bought for you and registered in your name: the .com and the .co.uk.
- How long does it take?
- Usually one to two weeks from the point your content is with us.
- Can I make changes after launch?
- Yes. Changes, updates and support are included in the monthly, from £49.99 a month for a sole trader.
- Will my website be on Google?
- Every site is set up for Google with page titles, structured data, a sitemap and Search Console. Nobody can guarantee rankings; a new site usually takes some weeks to settle in.
- Who builds the website?
- I do. Website Builds is Liam Tapp, one web designer in Cornwall building and looking after websites for small businesses across the UK.
- Do I need to provide photos and words?
- Photos of your own work help most. I can write the words from a short conversation about your business.
- Can you take over an existing website?
- Usually by rebuilding it. Your words and photos carry over, and your domain is pointed at the new site.
- Do you do online shops or booking systems?
- Yes, on the Bigger Website plan, scoped in writing first.
