Website design servicesSix of them. You probably need one.

Nobody rings up asking for findability and access. They ring up because the phone stopped going. So this page starts from what is going wrong: three kinds of trouble, six services underneath them, and the sentence you would say out loud attached to each one.

Work it out here

What is actually wrong?

Follow the branch that sounds like your situation. Each one ends at a service, with the question people ask before they commit answered on the way.

There is nothing to send people to

Or there is, and it may as well not be there.

I have nothing online, or something that describes the business accurately and settles none of the four or five things a customer needs settled first.

Strategy and build

Small-business websites

A clear, credible home online, planned around the questions customers ask before they enquire.

How long does it take?

Usually one to two weeks from the point your content is with us. The content is nearly always the thing that decides the timeline, so the sooner that is settled the sooner it launches.

I need to take money online, and the catalogue I actually have does not fit the one the template assumed.

Products and checkout

Ecommerce websites

Shops designed around a manageable catalogue and the shortest honest route to checkout.

Which platform do you use?

Shopify where the catalogue is conventional and you want to run it yourself. A custom build where the stock is unusual, as with one-of-a-kind items, because forcing that into a standard product model creates more problems than it solves.

It is there, and it is not working

Traffic, rankings and pages already exist. The job is to find out what is losing you enquiries.

The site looks dated, loads slowly on a phone, or quietly stopped producing enquiries.

Focus and conversion

Website redesigns

A focused rethink for a site that looks dated, loads slowly, or quietly stopped producing enquiries.

Will a redesign hurt my Google rankings?

It can, and that is the main risk. Rankings are lost when old URLs disappear without redirects, when content that was earning traffic is cut, or when the new site is slower. All three are avoidable, and avoiding them is most of the work.

The site exists and nobody finds it, and a page takes six seconds on a phone.

Findability and access

SEO, speed and accessibility

Practical work that helps people and search engines understand and use the site. No guarantees, because nobody can give them.

Can you guarantee page one?

No, and neither can anyone else. Google decides. What is controllable is whether your pages can be found, understood and loaded quickly, and that is what we work on.

The site is fine. What sits around it is not

The parts that only become visible when they go wrong, usually at the worst moment.

My email is landing in spam, or somebody else holds the account for my own domain.

Reliable foundations

Hosting, domains and email

The plumbing around the website, set up in accounts that stay yours.

Why is my email going to spam?

Almost always because SPF, DKIM and DMARC are missing or wrong. They tell receiving servers your mail is genuinely from you. It is a small job with a large effect.

It launched, and now a form has quietly stopped delivering and nobody is watching.

Care and improvement

Maintenance and measurement

Keeping a good website useful after launch, which is where most of them quietly stop being useful.

What does it cost?

The care is part of the monthly, from £50 a month, and comes with every site we build. The build itself is £249.99. It is billed at the end of each calendar month for the month just gone, so there is no payment up front.

When it is between two

These are the five forks people actually get stuck on. Each answer is the one you would get on the phone, which is not always the one that sells more work.

Keep what you haveorstart again?
Usually yes, and usually we should. Content that already ranks is an asset. We would rather restructure and tighten it than start again for the sake of it. Website redesigns
Fix how it looksorfix how it loads?
Sometimes it is the design. More often it is that the site is slow on a phone, or the pages people search for do not exist, or the enquiry route is quietly broken and nobody has tested it in two years. SEO, speed and accessibility
A few products on a normal siteora full shop?
Often the better answer for a handful of products. A full shop adds cost and admin that a small range does not justify. Ecommerce websites
Move the hostingorleave it where it is?
If you are happy where you are and it performs, we will work with it and say so. We would rather not move something that is working. Hosting, domains and email
A site we builtorsomebody else's?
We take on sites we did not build, but only after reviewing one. We will look at it and tell you honestly whether it is in a state we can sensibly maintain, and quote against what we find rather than a standard rate. Maintenance and measurement

Whichever one it turns out to be

Six services, one way of working. These hold whatever you pick, and they are written down before you pay anything.

You own it
The domain stays in your name, the content is yours, and you can take the site elsewhere. We do not hold anything hostage.
The price is the price
£249.99 to build, then £50 a month for a sole trader, more for a bigger business. Hosting, changes, updates and support are all in the monthly, and you can stop at the end of any month.
Nothing up front for care
Part of every plan, for as long as the site is live. Billed at the end of each calendar month, for the month just gone, so the first payment is taken a month after launch and nothing is paid up front.
No surprise invoices
Larger pieces of work are quoted separately and agreed before anything is charged. You will not find extra hours on an invoice you did not approve.
No guarantee we cannot keep
We will not promise a position on Google, because anybody who does is either guessing or lying.
We will say if you do not need it
We will tell you honestly if your current setup is fine and does not need replacing.

Tell me about your business.

One message is enough to start. I’ll read it and reply myself, usually with a couple of questions and a clear price.
