Ecommerce websites

Shops designed around a manageable catalogue and the shortest honest route to checkout.

Selling online is mostly a problem of removing reasons not to buy. Unclear delivery cost, no idea when it arrives, a checkout that asks for an account, a photograph that does not show the thing properly. Each one loses a proportion of people who were otherwise ready.

The shape of the catalogue matters too. A shop with forty near-identical products needs filtering and comparison. A shop where every item is unique, like reclaimed kitchens, needs the opposite: each one presented properly with its own photographs and a clear sold or available state.

We build for the catalogue you actually have rather than the one the template assumed.

How the work runs

  1. Understand the catalogue. How many products, how alike they are, how often they change, and whether each is unique. This decides the whole build.
  2. Design the route to checkout. From landing to paid, with the fewest steps that still collect what you genuinely need.
  3. Wire up payments. Card, and where appropriate buy-now-pay-later, tested end to end with real transactions before launch.
  4. Hand over. You are shown how to add products, mark items sold and read orders, so day-to-day running does not come back to us.

Where we have done this

Real client sites, not mock-ups. Open any of them and judge for yourself.

Common questions

The things people ask before they commit, answered plainly.

Which platform do you use?
Shopify where the catalogue is conventional and you want to run it yourself. A custom build where the stock is unusual, as with one-of-a-kind items, because forcing that into a standard product model creates more problems than it solves.
Can you offer Klarna or similar?
Yes. We built exactly that for Recycled Kitchens Cornwall, where being able to spread the cost removes the main objection to choosing a reclaimed kitchen over a new one.
What are the ongoing costs?
Platform subscription, payment processing fees and any paid apps, all of which go to those providers rather than to us. We will set out what they come to before you commit.
Can I sell a few items alongside a normal website?
Often the better answer for a handful of products. A full shop adds cost and admin that a small range does not justify.

One message is enough to start. I’ll read it and reply myself, usually with a couple of questions and a clear price.
