Websites for plumbers

Half your enquiries are urgent. The site has to make calling you the fastest thing on the page.

Plumbing splits cleanly into two jobs that behave nothing like each other. An emergency leak is a thirty-second decision made on a phone, usually standing next to the problem. A bathroom installation is a considered purchase with three quotes and a fortnight of thinking.

Most plumbing websites are built for the second and lose the first. If someone with water coming through a ceiling has to scroll past a hero image and an About paragraph to find a phone number, they have already rung the next result.

What your customers want answered

  1. Do you cover my postcode, and will you say so without me having to ring to find out
  2. Are you available now, tonight, or only weekdays
  3. Are you Gas Safe registered, and what is the number
  4. Do you charge a call-out fee, and roughly what does an hour cost
  5. Will you actually turn up when you said you would

Registration numbers, shown not claimedGas Safe and WaterSafe numbers on the page, in text rather than buried in a logo image, are worth more than any amount of copy about reliability. They are checkable, and a customer who checks has already decided to trust you.

Burying the phone number

The single most common fault. Emergency traffic is mobile, impatient and will not hunt. A tap-to-call button fixed to the bottom of the screen is not inelegant, it is the whole job.

Tell me about your business.

One message is enough to start. I’ll read it and reply myself, usually with a couple of questions and a clear price.
