The portfolio is the pitch. Most photographers' sites are too slow to show it.
Photography is chosen almost entirely on the work, and the website is the gallery. The irony is that photographers' websites are among the slowest on the internet, because full-resolution images are uploaded without being optimised.
A wedding client comparing three photographers on a phone will abandon the one that takes eight seconds to show a picture, however good the picture is.

Uploading full-size files
The commonest and most damaging fault in the sector. Properly sized and compressed images look identical on screen and load in a fraction of the time, which directly affects both bookings and search ranking.
