Websites for home automation installers

Clients have been burned by systems that stopped working. Sell support, not gadgets.

Anyone spending seriously on a smart home has usually already bought consumer kit that half worked, stopped talking to itself after an update, or became unsupported when an app was retired.

What they want now is not more features. It is a system that keeps working, somebody who answers the phone when it does not, and confidence that they will not be stranded when the technology moves on.

What your customers want answered

  1. What happens when something stops working, and who fixes it
  2. Will this still be supported in five years
  3. Does it need internet to work, and what happens if that goes down
  4. Can it be added to gradually, or is it all at once
  5. What does it cost to install and what does support cost

Talk about the network firstMost smart home failures are network failures. An installer who leads with structured wiring and proper access point coverage rather than with devices is describing the thing that actually determines whether the system works, and clients who have suffered through an unreliable setup recognise it immediately.

Demonstrating features nobody uses

Scene-setting and voice control impress at a show and get switched off within a month. Heating, hot water, lighting that behaves sensibly and reliable security are what clients actually value, and they are what should be on the page.

Tell me about your business.

One message is enough to start. I’ll read it and reply myself, usually with a couple of questions and a clear price.
