Websites for drainage engineers
Emergency work pays the bills. Make the phone number impossible to miss.
A blocked drain is an emergency in a way most trades never see: it is unpleasant, it stops the household functioning, and it gets worse by the hour. The customer will ring the first firm that looks like it will come out.
Behind that sits more considered work — surveys, repairs, relining — usually driven by a house sale or an insurance claim, and bought quite differently.
What your customers want answered
- How quickly can you get here, and do you work at night
- What does a call-out cost, and is it fixed
- Is this blockage my responsibility or the water company's
- Can you find out what is wrong without digging up the garden
- Do you do the repair as well as the clearing
Explain who owns which pipeHouseholders are frequently unaware that many shared drains and sewers beyond their boundary became the water company's responsibility, and that some of what they are about to pay for may not be theirs to fix. A firm that explains this before taking the job is trusted with everything that follows.
No mention of the camera survey
A recorded survey turns an invisible problem into something a customer can see, which is what justifies a repair quote and what an insurer or a buyer's solicitor will want. Not offering it leaves the firm arguing about work nobody can verify.

One message is enough to start. I’ll read it and reply myself, usually with a couple of questions and a clear price.
