Websites for windscreen specialists

Modern windscreens carry cameras. Recalibration is the technical differentiator.

A chip is an urgent, low-value job bought on speed and whether the insurer will cover it. A replacement on a modern car is something else entirely, because the glass carries the cameras and sensors that driver assistance systems depend on.

Many customers have no idea that a windscreen replacement can require recalibration, and that having it done without is a genuine safety issue. Explaining it is both a service and a commercial advantage.

What your customers want answered

  1. Can this chip be repaired or does the screen need replacing
  2. Will my insurance cover it, and what is the excess
  3. Does my car need the cameras recalibrating afterwards
  4. Do you come to me, and can it be done outside
  5. How long before I can drive it

Say that you recalibrate, and howCars with lane keeping, automatic braking or adaptive cruise control usually have a forward-facing camera mounted to the windscreen, and replacing the glass means the system has to be recalibrated to work correctly. Stating that you carry out static or dynamic recalibration, and for which systems, is a serious technical differentiator most local fitters never mention.

Treating every car as the same job

Heated screens, acoustic glass, rain sensors, heads-up displays and camera brackets all change the part and the price. A site that implies one price for all windscreens produces quotes that do not survive contact with the vehicle.

One message is enough to start. I’ll read it and reply myself, usually with a couple of questions and a clear price.
