Websites for takeaways

Every order through your own site is one you keep the commission on.

The delivery platforms take a substantial share of every order, and most takeaways accept it because that is where the customers are. But a customer who has already eaten your food and liked it does not need a marketplace to find you again.

Converting repeat customers to direct ordering is the single biggest commercial opportunity in this sector, and it hinges on the website being as fast and easy as the app they are used to.

What your customers want answered

  1. What is on the menu, with prices, right now
  2. Do you deliver to my street, and what is the minimum order
  3. How long will it take
  4. How do I order and pay
  5. Are you open now

Give people a reason to order directA discount that still leaves you better off than the platform commission, a loyalty card, or an item only available direct. Customers will happily switch if there is a reason, and every order that moves off the marketplace improves the margin permanently.

A menu as a PDF

It is the commonest fault in the trade. A PDF is unreadable on a phone, invisible to search, and impossible to keep current when prices change. The menu should be ordinary text on the page.

Tell me about your business.

One message is enough to start. I’ll read it and reply myself, usually with a couple of questions and a clear price.
