Parents are buying reassurance as much as teaching. Evidence both.
A parent looking for a tutor is worried about two things: whether their child will actually improve, and whether this stranger is safe to be alone with them.
Most tutor websites address the first and ignore the second, which is the one parents feel unable to ask about directly.

- Do you teach my child's subject, level and exam board
- What do you charge per hour, and is there a minimum block
- Are the sessions online or in person, and where
- Do you have a DBS check
- What results have your students achieved
Say plainly that you hold an enhanced DBSSince January 2026 eligible self-employed tutors in England and Wales have been able to obtain an enhanced DBS check through an umbrella body, where previously they could not apply on their own behalf. Holding one, and offering to show the certificate, answers the question every parent has and few will ask.
Not naming the exam board
Specifications differ, and parents of exam-year students search by board. A tutor who names the boards and specifications they teach appears in searches that a general subject page never reaches.
