Websites for insulation installers

Customers fear doing it wrong more than they fear the cost. Address ventilation head on.

Insulation has become a cautious purchase. Enough people have heard about damp cavity walls, condensation after loft work and problems at resale that the customer's first instinct is to check whether this will cause a problem rather than to ask the price.

Firms that meet that concern directly do considerably better than those selling warmth and savings. The reassurance people want is technical, and it is rarely offered.

What your customers want answered

  1. Is my property suitable, and how do you check
  2. Will this cause condensation or damp
  3. What happens to ventilation once the house is sealed up
  4. What certification and guarantee do I get for the work
  5. Will this affect a future mortgage valuation or sale

Treat the house as one systemThe recognised retrofit standards exist precisely because insulating one element in isolation can cause problems elsewhere, which is why assessment, ventilation and moisture risk sit alongside the measure itself. Explaining that, and being registered with a scheme that requires it, distinguishes a serious installer from somebody selling a product.

Quoting savings as though they were certain

Estimated bill savings depend on the building, the heating pattern and the occupants. Presenting them as guaranteed invites complaints and, increasingly, scepticism from customers who have heard the claims before.

Tell me about your business.

One message is enough to start. I’ll read it and reply myself, usually with a couple of questions and a clear price.
