Websites for extension builders

Clients cannot compare three quotes. Make yours the one they can actually understand.

Someone getting quotes for an extension is holding three numbers that differ by tens of thousands and cover different things. They have no way to tell whether the cheapest has left out the kitchen, the groundworks or the making good.

The builder who wins is frequently not the cheapest but the one who made the comparison possible. Setting out what a price includes and excludes is the most commercially useful thing on an extension builder's website.

What your customers want answered

  1. What is included in your price and what is not
  2. How do payments work, and do you ask for money up front
  3. How long will it take, and what happens if it overruns
  4. Do you handle drawings, building control and the party wall process
  5. Can I see a project like mine, finished

A written scope beats a headline figureListing what the quote covers — foundations, structure, roof, windows, first and second fix, plastering, decoration, kitchen supply, external works, waste — and what it does not, lets a client compare properly. Clients who feel in control of the comparison are far more likely to choose the firm that gave them that control.

Not mentioning the Party Wall Act

Many extensions engage it, and clients who discover it late feel misled. A builder who explains when notice is needed, and who handles it, avoids a delay that otherwise gets blamed on them.

Tell me about your business.

One message is enough to start. I’ll read it and reply myself, usually with a couple of questions and a clear price.
